About Dr. Tom Williams
Tom Williams came from a family of engineers. Originally, he was going to be an engineer, and excelled at it at Vanderbilt University. But Tom also genuinely likes people, and looked for a career that offered more personal service. As his patients will attest, they are glad he chose dentistry.
Though born in Wilmington, Delaware, he was raised and educated in Georgia. He graduated with honors with a bachelor’s in physics from Georgia State University, where he was elected to Sigma Pi Sigma National Physics Honor Society, Phi Eta Sigma Freshman Scholastic Honor Society and Blue Key National Honor Fraternity. He earned his master’s in Environmental Engineering at Vanderbilt, and was elected to the Tau Beta Pi National Engineering Honor Society. He graduated in the top 10 percent of his class at The Georgia Health Sciences University, College of Dental Medicine, and has taught in the dentistry school there. He recently completed a Certificate program in Computer Science at Mercer University.
As a dentist, he practiced orthodontics and pediatric dentistry in western Canada. He did an extended preceptorship with an orthodontic practice in Canada for 5 years and was trained in orthodontics by a Board Certified University Professor. Dr. Williams has completed many orthodontic cases at all levels of difficulty.
Dr. Williams continues his studies in dentistry, taking many hours of continuing education courses each year. His professional affiliations include memberships in the American Orthodontic Society, International Association for Orthodontics and Academy of General Dentistry. His primary areas of interest are in Orthodontics and Family Dentistry.
He earned Achievement and Fellowship Awards from the American Orthodontic Society and is Board Eligible. He has also been awarded the Certificate of Merit from the American Academy of Children’s Dentistry.
Dr. Williams is married to Diane, his office manager. Their children are Chuck, Keli and Brett. They have lived in Fayetteville area since 1985.
When he’s not treating patients, you might find Dr. Williams on a golf course, boating or scuba diving.
His practice continues to grow an average of 60 patients a month. He gives his patients appointment reminders, and the opportunity to tell him what they think of their experience through online evaluation. That input allows him and his staff to improve on their already great patient care.
